What is Pilates?
Pilates is exercise designed to improve physical strength, flexibility, and posture, while also enhancing mental awareness and conditioning. It focuses on controlled movements and breathing to engage the body’s core muscles, promoting balance and coordination. Originally called Contrology, Pilates is a complete approach to fitness that benefits the body and the mind.
Classes
Mat Pilates
In Mat Pilates, exercises are performed on a mat, making it accessible and suitable for people of all fitness levels. The exercises typically involve controlled movements that engage the core muscles, including the abdominal muscles, lower back, hips, and glutes. These movements often incorporate elements of breathing techniques, concentration, control, precision, and fluidity of motion.
Reformer Pilates
Reformer Pilates is a type of Pilates exercise that involves the use of a specialized piece of equipment called a Pilates reformer. The reformer consists of a sliding carriage attached to springs, ropes, and pulleys, allowing for a wide range of resistance and movement variations.
Chair Pilates
Wunda Chair Pilates, also known simply as the Wunda Chair, is a variation of Pilates exercises performed using a piece of equipment called the Wunda Chair.
The Wunda Chair consists of a padded seat with a pedal or step attached to a spring-loaded mechanism. The resistance of the springs can be adjusted to provide more or less challenge depending on the user's strength and ability level.
Cadillac and Tower Pilates
Cadillac and Tower Pilates are two variations of Pilates exercises performed using specialized equipment known as the Cadillac and the Tower, respectively. Both the Cadillac and the Tower are large apparatuses designed to facilitate a wide range of exercises and movements, providing support, resistance.
